Nobody faces more immediate pressure than someone at war, but war isn’t always about fighting people. The number of volunteer fire services in China today is estimated at nearly a quarter of a million, with nearly two million registered volunteers. These are people who take great risks to help others. Li Yang travelled to the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou where she met one extraordinary group of volunteers.
