JORDAN’S UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM


Unlike many of its neighbors in the Middle East, Jordan has no civil wars or massive social unrest. Its stability is considered important in preventing the spread of extremism in the region.

But a growing unemployment problem…and local people’s resentment towards refugees being granted the right the work…are posing a threat. Stephanie Freid went to the town of Dhiban... where joblessness has pushed some people to take to the streets.

The town of Kota in northern India is known for its coaching institutes that help students get into some of the country’s top universities. But it is also infamous for cases of suicide among students… believed to be under intense pressure and stress.

Ravinder Bawa visited Kota and met a number of students suffering from psychological troubles... in their race for a bright future.
